    SKILLCHAINS SKILLCHAINS SKILLCHAINS SKILLCHAINS

I have a feeling there is a gray area in the Skillchain department that hasn´t been touched yet for the most parts but has some potential. I have some questions:

    A) What is this 6 part (7?) Samurai self Skillchain I hear? All pics I saw the mob died before it was finished

    B) What is the maximum number of WS that you can link into a Skillchain? 6? 7? indefinetly?

    C) Has anyone gathered any info in what Skillchain resist rate could influence? Just normal monster resist and monster level? .. or maybe stats like INT / MND / other on the character closing it?

    D) Does the MAB go up for MBs by 5 each time another WS gets added?

    E) Does the resistrate of the skillchain itself improve the more WS get added?

    A) Theres several Samurai skillchains that involve more than 5 WS. My personal favorite is this. Gekko->Yuki(Induration)->Kasha(Compression)->Yuki(Detonation)->Kasha(Gravitation)->Gekko(Darkness). Instead of the second Kasha you could use Enpi/Jinpu and then do Jinpu->Jinpu forever chaining Scisson/Detonation.

    B) Indefinate chaining if you have the TP.

    C) No clue maybe someone else has an idea on that, but from personal experience typically less resisted if the closer does a large WS damage, and then you typically see larger SC damage.

    D) Magic Burst damage increases for each skillchain that is chained. I think the exact amount can be found on wiki if you search Skillchains or Magic Bursts.

    E) Personal experience going from a Lv1->Lv2->Lv3 SC the resist rate goes down with the more powerful SC.

Indefinate chaining if you have the TP.

This is what I am largly interested in. Then wouldn´t it in theory be possible to create a HUGH MONSTER skillchain that would almost oneshot everything when you get an unresisted SC effect?

HNM resist pretty much everything but isn´t there always a 5% chance of it going through unresisted?

Theres more than likely a cap on the Magic Burst Bonus Damage and the SC damage. Its just a matter of determining the value of the cap.

Well those Qudrub Skillchain screenshots looked pretty pervert. We know a skillchain damage can go up to multiple 1000 - speaking from a pure numeric value.

If or if there is not a cap is sort of the gray area I am thinking of. But there really are no tests around I have seen for such "extreme" Skillchains - that also get MBd at the end.

While of course it´s debatable if such things are practical - I think there are some things to be tried and learned here. The result could potentially be rather devasting.

Just as an example, this is the end of a 5-way SC I did to the LB2 tiger.
Chain was Yukki -> Kasha (compression) -> Yukki (detonation) -> Kasha (Gravitation) -> Gekko for 200% darkness dmg, just as wiki said it would be.
If I had tried to do 6 or 7 on this particular mob he wouldnt have survived to the final SC.

The SAM NPC general in Vunkerl Inlet uses all the SAM ws subsequently in order which produces like 4 SC ending in double light.

    Enpi>Hobaku>Goten>Kagero>Jinpu>Koki>Yukikaze>Gekko >Kasha>Kaiten

    i believe

any of the Tier II Skillchains can be continuously executed so long as you don't complete either light or dark. (this is not exaclty a 'sam only' situation though)

    General Pattern:
    Fragmentation \ Distortion | Fusion / Gravitation | Fragmentation

For a Relic sam, you can cover a great deal of that yourself and do a double light to boot:
    Yukikaze > Kasha(Gravitation) | Kaiten(Fragmentation) \ Gekko(Distortion) | Kasha(Fusion) - Kaiten(Light) * Kaiten(Light)

Last Kaitem may or may not land it's been a while and Kaiten's kinda tempermental...

But yeah, really hard to get pics before any mob dies.... Best I seen was the Arrapaggo Remmnants pre-boss chariot get whacked in a brrage of single/double lights just alternating Kaiten > Kasha. took down the chariot in no time.

For your other questions, same issue, to test these things you need a mob with HUGE HP. I known there's a ton of rumors to that effect, but as far as I know/seen, no, there appears to be no additional damage granted to magic damage landing on a skillchain of a multiple tier. And I could be totally wrong.

Yeah she does but in the laws of ffxi, Enpi-> Hobaku shouldn't chain but somehow she makes it chain....

So it looks like the max mirriored damage could be a 2x Modifier? Maybe doubleing light with a rellic can increase this?

To test thosse things I guess you should gimp yourself with a level 1 GK and taking off unneeded gear. The mobs just seem to have not enough HP to go all out.

That 2x is not 'the max' but it is the max for 5-WS skillchained together ending in a tier 3. 6 WS would be 225% dmg max, 7 WS 250%, and on and on, theoretically, til we find out if it caps somewhere.

Time to gather some SAMs and do the Jinpu circle jerk with level 1 gimp GKs

    EDIT:

    from failwiki:

No more than 5 Skillchains can be created in succession under any circumstances. (This would require 6 total Weapon Skills in a row).

So 6 WS is the max?

The wiki information is based on a very old Playonline news article, so it's probably accurate. I've never seen a 7 WS SC, though that's just absence of evidence not evidence of absence.

Damage bonus cap on the 5th one (or was it 5th ws). Anyway, it wont go above 200% for light/darkness.

It was something like 80% cap for level 1, 125% cap for level 2 and 200% cap for level 3...or something. Sorry if number are incorect, I havent seen much skillchain beside scision and liquefaction in the last 3 years >_>

Not saying this isn't true, but where does this info come from Kaylia?

From the internet? I dunno.... Number I said were posted years ago, back when skillchain were common knowledge. I'm almost certain 5 SC was the absolute max before, and I doubt it was made up simply because people never tried a 6th.

If wiki say 6 is the max for 90%, 150%, and 225%...I will assume those number are correct. Might have changed over time, or I might remember it wrong, but there was a cap for sure.

Would be easy to test with 2 samurai using lv1 weapon (use an event weapon) with defender on. Might do it tomorrow if I'm bored and the mystery isnt solved.
