    halp money for college advice

Seeing as how everyone's an expert here on some of the most random things here, I figure I should see if anyone can help me out with this.

Long story short, my parents(for whatever reason) didn't fill out FAFSA last year, so I was foreced to find student loans to pay off the Fall 07/Spring 08 year. I paid off Fall's tuition, and I've payed off half of Spring's tuition. Basically, now I can't use the same source I've been using for a myraid of reason (Chase Select Loans). I've looked around for numerous lenders to see if I could try getting a loan on my own and/or with a cosigner, and I've been turned down every time.

Here's just a list of what I've went through, with and without cosigners..

    Wachovia
    Chase Select
    Campus Door
    Next Student
    Astrive
    Sallie Mae

And I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot more than I listed. So, if anyone has some advice, let me know. I won't be able to enter in August, but I'm shooting for October. Currently owe around 2.5k, so I'd like about $3000-$4000 to have a little bit going into the next semester.

Your parents wouldn't fill out FAFSA? You mean they refused to sign and give information for the one YOU filled out? (I'm assuming that's what you meant).

Is there anything you can do in that situation? I mean, have you talked to your finaid office to see if there's a way to get government aid in your situation?

Also, the best way to get finaid is to be black. If you're not black, you should do something about that.

Call your school's financial aid office and explain the situation to them. Probably won't get you anywhere, but obviously federal/private loans aren't going to work out(?)

I was selected for verification and I needed my mother to send in her tax papers, which she wouldn't do. And yes, I've called my finaid office numerous times explaining the situation; hell, I even had a check mailed out to me for $3000 that was SUPPOSED to cover the rest of my spring balance and suddenly that went poof without my knowing it, so I have an investigation started on that. -.- Yes, the office knows I'm a victim of fraud yet they won't do shit or let me back in until my Spring balance is paid in full.

I'm stuck and I can't do a damn thing about it, unless some money just falls from the sky and into my pockets(literally).

And yes, I am black D:

edit: I probably should have posted this somewhere else. >_>

Heh, I got selected for verification too. I'm guessing it's because I blindly clicked through the finance-related portions of the FAFSA and just entered zero in every field. It was legit though, I didn't file in 2007!

I'm hoping it gets processed in time for next semester, otherwise I'm stuck with a few months of free time that I don't want, and as a bonus, I get to start paying my existing loans back. Woo!

    I completely forgot about having to pay those loans back if I don't get back in school soon. ; ;
