FFXI freeze problem

Hi,

I didn't know where else to go. I've looked everywhere and it's frustrating.

My problem:
I'm on Vista and using Nvidia 9800 GT (yeah I know about the sticky...). I play FFXI windowed and whenever I alt tab everything freezes for 10-15 seconds. Then when I alt tab back to FFXI everything freezes for 10-15 seconds again.

Some might say "downgrading" to XP might do the trick, but does anyone here know if there is a fix for this without switching to XP? Any help will be appreciated thanks.
