    Waking the Beast

Just wondering if the Weapons/Armor that drops, drop off the avatars in Carbuncle Prime fight, or if theres a chest. Says on wiki that the items may drop throughout the BC and then says they come from a chest, but that it hasn't been proven. So just wondering if Treasure Hunter effects the drops at all. Also, if a SMN ally was made for this, would 2 BRD and 10 SMN be enough? or 2 COR 10 SMN. Thanks for any info ahead of time.

Drops into the treasure pool when you kill the last Carbuncle Prime. No crate/chest/etc.

That BC is such a sham...
I suppose skilled summoners / cor or bards could pull that off, but it seems like that fight can get out of control very easily even with a full ally. Could just be my own experiences.

What's the storyline of this quest about? So I don't have to bother trying to find people to do the fights. Is it anything interesting?

Did it over a year ago so memory is a bit faded. I don't remember how it starts as I flagged it years ago . Anyway, you gather the power of the 6 sleeping gods. When you get to full moon fountain the 6 avatars call Carbuncle a false god and start draining the fountain of power (the fountain allows people to summon avatars I believe), Carbuncle tells you to dismiss them but they refuse. Carbuncle attacks you to try and sever the link between you and the gods. After you win you can choose to return the power to the fountain or keep it, each giving a different CS. I picked return the power, Carbuncle thanks you and tells you Vana'diel can live in peace.

Someone can fill in the blanks or any mistakes I made, too lazy to run to Full Moon Fountain and I did the quest over a year ago.

So is the next CS immediately after the last carbuncle? Or is there 5 minutes where you can sort items before CS? I'd hate to have a 10minute CS and have some spam thru it to cast lots, and other people who wanna watch CS get screwed.

You pretty much said it all, but I'll add in a few other stuff (spoilers duh):

-The reason Carby makes you do this is to awaken his "ancient friend" (most likely Fenrir) who can see the future of Vana'diel or something like that; the reason those 6 steal the power of the fountain, other than the fact that they don't like the "false" gods, is to restore a "divided god" or something (I think Promathia; perhaps they wanna give him a pep talk, beat him up, or he's needed for paradise or something).
-Carbuncle still takes the power even if you refuse, I think.

CS starts as soon as you finish the last Carbuncle, I'm not sure when the item drops but halfway through the CS it popped up with "You obtain a Shiva's shotel!". It could of possibly dropped after one person exits CS and they got through it faster then me, or it could be a minute or so after you defeat the last Carbuncle. Either way the CS is pretty short so you have plenty of time to read and enjoy the cutscene. You get a second CS at the ??? in La Theine Plateau, which is where you recieve your Carbuncle's Pole (everybody gets a pole, the other items are from the BC, most I've seen is 3 drop at once (2x Leviathan's Couse and Ifrit's Bow)). You can reflag the quest after the next Conquest Tally.

Off topic rant, you come out of CS right by the zone out of Full Moon Fountain. Don't let assholes double lot drops via zoning (especially people who shouldn't of been lotting in the first place ).

    Re: Waking the Beast

Each person who exits the cutscene and appears outside of the shimmering circle may get a "You obtain a (weapon)!" notice, then the named weapon appears in the treasure pool. The more people in the BC at the time of victory, the more chances to get an item.

Slow readers and people who like to go afk during cutscenes for whatever reason will delay the chance to produce an item. I have a feeling you could even wait in your cutscene until everyone leaves and potentially claim an item all for yourself.

    Re: Waking the Beast

this may be a bit off topic and foolish, but i've been trying to find a good, reliable strategy for winning this that's not "find 16 smns." my LS is showing an interest in shaking things up (dynamis, limbus, sea, etc. over and over again with occasional breaks to camp something gets old.) and this is one of the things i'd been thinking about trying. the problem is, i'd want to try to include everyone, and not everyone is a brd, smn, or similar, so we'd be stuck leaving people out. has anyone had success with a less burn oriented party? if not, what is the easiest way to just farm the hell out of this BC, ala manaburn DM? i seem to remember that if 1 person leaves before the last carby dies, everyone can get back in for another round of kills. is this correct? if i can't drag everyone in, i can at least (i hope) make a group to repeatedly kill it, farming items for people.

I always thought the divided gods were the 5 races. e.g. you, the player, are a divided god. But that's just my interpretation. Maybe the 5 races have to merge back into one to restore Paradise. Who knows.

I chose to keep the power, but then Carbuncle rushed me with his remaining power and there was a flash of blinding white light. I don't remember what happened after that, because I blacked out.

There's a walkthrough somewhere around about that, which basically centered around getting a bunch of tanks and splitting the carbies up so that each group only has to deal with 1 AF or so. Check alla and look through the forum section on the quest info.

CoP basically says that the 5 races (maybe all mortals?) are the divided power/existence of Promathia, which is basically distilled over a long period of time, ending with the seperation at the end of CoP.

Does everyone need all 6 eyes to enter or can 1 person let the others in to help them?

More eyes you have the more likely you are to see a drop ( i am pretty sure that's how it works).

Thats what i figured, but if a group all just wanted to help 1 person get a pole, would it work?

yup.. in Waking the Beast, Carby wants you to use the power you siphon from the 6 celestials to help awaken Fenrir for something..

unfortunately, at this point enough of their power is present in Vana'diel that they are able to independently manifest themselves at Full Moon Fountain and realise that you were about to use their power to help Carby.

They disagree to this, refusing to help a false god, but allow you (the divided god as Promathia lives on in all 5 races) their power only.

They start to siphon energy from Full Moon Fountain, Carby panics cos he doesn't want Fenrir to be completely drained and decides the only way to stop the celestial avatars is to defeat you and sever the link..

Halfway into the battle with carby, the celestials will join in and fight you, telling you not to meddle in their affairs while they deal with Carby, or something like that.. and thats why all of them fight you.
thats the gist of the battle..

the rest has been mentioned by others already..

Yes, everyone entering the final BC in Full Moon Fountain needs all 6 eyes from each of the prime avatar fights.
