New deep field image from the Hubble Space Telescope

Another deep field image was released by NASA

    http://hubblesite.org/newscenter/arc...eases/2010/01/

January 5, 2010: More than 12 billion years of cosmic history are shown in this unprecedented, panoramic, full-color view of thousands of galaxies in various stages of assembly. This image, taken by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, was made from mosaics taken in September and October 2009 with the newly installed Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) and in 2004 with the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS). The view covers a portion of the southern field of a large galaxy census called the Great Observatories Origins Deep Survey (GOODS), a deep-sky study by several observatories to trace the evolution of galaxies.

The final image combines a broad range of colors, from the ultraviolet, through visible light, and into the near-infrared. Such a detailed multi-color view of the universe has never before been assembled in such a combination of color, clarity, accuracy, and depth.

It'll break more then just the tables:

It's crazy to think of how we are so freaking tiny compared to that.

I am torn between wishing I was alive in the 19th century (love me some cowboys and indians) or the super space exploration era aka Star Trek days. Some day.

Really nice of god to put all this out there for us. He knew we'd have telescopes one day and put this out for our entrainment.

Man, I really want to see a revival of space exploration in my lifetime.

I doubt cowboys and indians days were as fun as movies make them look. I bet the future is definetly better.

Although, technology-wise, it was at an interesting time in that not everything was discovered yet, and you were free enough that you could set off with a gun, horse, some supplies and head off in some direction no one's gone before and have yourself an adventure.

And dysentery, starvation, pneumonia, and losing 63 oxen, 12 bushels of food and 5 wagons every time you cross a river.

Yeah, space exploration will probably be a bit more fun, as long as we've progressed far enough to not make space travel as risky and uncomfortable as the old west was, by comparison.

    @ OP picture

    Good God.

I don't think any more can honestly be said about it (by me at least).

Now picture 100 Billion stars in each one of those specks. Then again some of those galaxies could have contained civilizations or simple life that existed millions or billions of years before life here on Earth ever appeared. Many of those Galaxies possibly don't exist anymore or have transited to another portion or our always expanding universe, the possibilities are limitless.

You literally are looking back in the past every time you look at that picture. The final frontier indeed.

There's not enough lens flare for that to be outer space.
