    Nods to previous FF's?

    Maybe I'm crazy, or maybe my fanboyism is showing, but does anyone else playing this game come across things where they feel like the designers are giving nods to past final fantasies? Cameo-type instances, if you will.

    Constantly thinking to myself, "Hey that reminds me of Final Fantasy number ...."

    -Fireworks dome: Blitzball Arena (FFX)
    -Hanging Edge: Midgard (FFVII)
    -Lightnings Sword/Gun weapon: Squall's Gunblade (FFVIII)
    -Gapra Whitewood: Golmore Jungle (FFXII)
    -Lindblum & Fleet: The Leviathan (FFXII)
    -Gadou: Wakka (FFX)

    I'm sure I'm forgeting a ton. And before there's any confusion, I'm not accusing them of ripping off other games or recycling material. I see it more as a really cool tribute of sorts that dips into the nostalgia of games over the years.

    Am I crazy? If not, what have others seen that I'm probably forgetting.

    Was thinking the same thing, rofl.

    To me lightning is a combination of Squall and Cloud. Or at least it seems that way to me. Game reminds me a lot of X, at least when you're moving around and exploring.

    Getting Palom and Porom and building them up outside town is one of the best parts of FF4.

    Yes, train ride harboring the main character as a resistance + immediate scorpionesque boss.

    Also, approaching and observing the Pulsian Fal'Cie you encounter in The Hanging Edge = sup Jenova.

    Oh, really good call on Jenova. I didn't think of that (how?! haha), but you're right. Also good call by Hirokei on Palumpolom. The nostalgia the game creates, even if by accident (hard to imagine), really adds to the enjoyment factor imo.
