    ffxiv benchmark problem

Well i tried downloading this program but i got this problem:

The program can't run because d3dx9_41.dll is missing from your computer. try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
To fix that, i tried downloading this, but now i'm getting another problem where i can't finish installing because : a cabinet file necessary for installation can't be trusted". I tried to see if the Cryptographic services was on, but it was enabled.

Any advice on how to deal with this mess?

Try the full redistributable package, should be big in size, maybe here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displayLang=en
    or here:

It's a known ridiculous problem with newer versions of windows - they simply do not include full directx9. I had to do this for my bro's machine to get things like dolphin (gamecube/wii emu) to work with dx, but could also try a driver update if this doesn't work.

    Tried running as administrator?

(btw Microsoft, that constant popup warning every time I try to run a program was so fucking annoying that I had to turn it off completely.)

I'm getting a similar problem. DL'd the Directx9 file from FF14 benchmark website, and fixed that problem, but when the benchmark starts it just sits at the black screen and I hear the sound of the benchmark going but none of the video. Maybe my laptop is just that terrible? lol

My video card is a radeon hd 5770, and i tried downloading the entire package:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...1-50ceb6d8fa8d

And i got this whole mess of rar files that i had no idea what to do with. I suppose i need to drag that dll file out of one of the zip files, but where do i put it afterward?

Having problems with running the benchmark on my laptop too (running Win7), and just downloaded that file you mentioned. There's a DXSETUP.exe file in the same folder you extracted all those .rars to, and I ran that DXSETUP.exe to install. Hasn't fixed my problem though

Alternatively (perhaps more pertinently for your situation), you can directly download d3dx9_41.dll and xinput1_3.dll from http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dl...shtml?d3dx9_41 and http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dl...html?xinput1_3 respectively, and extract the .dlls to C:\windows\system or C:\windows\system32 (check to see which folder has other .dlls already in it). My other PC (running Vista) had this "no .dlls" issue, and downloading those two .dlls and stuffing them into c:\windows\system fixed the problem.

I used that dxsetup that i didn't see before, and it installed the files, which fixed my previous problem but now the benchmark simply won't run. It says that the benchmark has stopped working and i have to shut it down. No idea what to do about it.

Yeah, I'm also stuck there on my laptop. DirectX and video card drivers all updated, but the benchmark just crashes after I click the START button.

    Win 7 Home Premium
    Intel Core i5-540M
ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 (Driver version 8.702.5.0)

Only thing I can think of now is video drivers aren't as up-to-date. Unfortunately, the drivers that ATI offers on their website (8.732) are incompatible with my laptop (Lenovo Y460) and Lenovo hasn't updated their drivers on their website.

SE needs to put me into beta so I can send bug reports and they can troubleshoot this D:

Getting the appcrash on my bro's machine as well. Drivers are the 10.4 version, card is ati 4850 1gb, cpu is phenomII x3 720, 4gb ram (all stock clock), monitor res is 1280x1024 (old one), and vista sp2 x64 version.

No real solution yet (I can't upgrade vid drivers just yet)

I had a different Issue, I can see the video in both low and high def, but there's no sound. I had the issue on de d3dx9_41.dll, and download copy and paste in system32 and sysWOW64, and change the name to lowercase and worked. But as I mention I don't have sound anyone know why? I checked the sound mixer and there is no sound coming from the system.

I can hear sound but get no video. have stock nvidia 7400 which is probably why, but people with older and crappier vid cards can see choppy vid. The sound is crisp, but i get a whole 82 points on benchmark.....

    Windows 7
updated drivers and directx (since i was getting directx error)

Not sure what else could cause the vid to not display, i have tried redownload from both sites.

FWIW, I had slightly higher benches with 10.3 than with the 10.5's. If you consider a 2% difference above the margin of error.

Hi all, long time reader, first time poster.

I've got a problem running it as well, I'm running an up-to-date ATI Mobility Radeon 5870 1GB GDDR5 I'm running an i7 720 QM processor and windows 7(64-bit)with direct X checked. I installed the most recent version as well as made sure I had all the files to use direct x 9.0c.

I don't get an error message of any specific type in fact the program just stops responding. Of course I've tried it in compatibility mode for older versions of windows and had the same problem. Does anybody have any ideas as to why this this freezes up on me? I've seen others with similar configurations run the benchmark. Any help would be appreciated.

Update - installed the 10.6 ati drivers (vista x64) released yesterday, and was able to run the benchmark. Got a 3000-ish score with everything stock and options in CCC set to app default. I let the package uninstall the old drivers and install the new ones - it's really smooth at this. So now at least, I know I could play it on his comp if necessary, but I'm still gonna just get it for ps3.

I was having simillar problems to what most of you are/where having. I started with the missing file, which turned out to be directX. Then I was having issues with the program not starting properly. Which turned out to be the Video card needing an update, and I don't meen the windows update, I went to ATI's site to get the update, because the one from the windows menu failed to get what I needed. Then I had problems with it crashing just before leviathan jumped out of the water, and I mean the whole PC. So I updated the sound card, again from the ATI site. After doing all of this, it ran strait through just fine.

Now why would I have to do all of this? Because stuff like that are not properly updated when you buy a PC. As for the sites to get your proper video and audio card updates, just look to see what you have and search for it from thier official sites.

I hope this helps anyone still trying to figure out why they cannot run this program.

This problem is an interesting one. After successfully using two methods to fix it, I was almost convinced it was a Direct X issue. However, I haven't seemed to correct the issue a third time. Maybe this information will help:

Desktop #1: Approx 1 year old desktop. Quad core, 250gt nvidia GPU, ~4-6 GB ram.
    (Don't know the specs because it's a friend's computer.)
    OS: Windows 7
    Direct X Version: 11
Problem: Would not run benchmark because of missing .dll.
Fix: Installed Direct X from web download.
    Benchmark: ~1900

Laptop #1: Brand new Acer laptop. Top of the line. Would not run benchmark because of a .dll issue.
    Direct X Version: 11
    OS: Windows 7
Problem: Would not run benchmark because of .dll issue.
Fix: Same as above. Direct X install from web.
    Benchmark: ~2600

Desktop #2: Roughly 3-4 year old. Single core CPU, 8800 GT Nividia GPU, 4GB ram.
    Direct X Version: 11
    OS: Windows 7
Problem: Would not run benchmark because of missing .dll.
Fix: Specifically downloaded Microsoft Directx Web downloader as stated from Finalfantasyxiv.com. Directx9c, if I remember correctly.
    Benchmark: ~800

Laptop #2: Approx 1 year old. Dual Core, 4 GB ram.
    Direct X Version: 11
    OS: Windows Vista
Problem: Anticipated directx 9 issue so preemptively installed. No .dll error but crashes as soon as the program starts it's benchmark cycle.
    Fix: None yet.
    Benchmark: ???

For the first 3 successfull attempts, it seemed that you needed to have DX9 installed. Error message looked something like this: "Missing dx9cc_41.dll" But for some unknown reason, the fix is not working for Laptop 3. I assume there's a vista issue with it? Once I figure out what is going wrong, I'll update. In the mean time, those of you having the missing .dll issue, go ahead and try installing DX9, DX9c, DX10. Most of you should have version DX11.

Edit: Interesting. I decided to find a different dx9c download from download.cnet.com and the install would not take. However, the program started and did not spring missing .dll error. Instead, it went to benchmark cycle and then crashed. Hmmm. I hope I'm close.

Updated the Graphics drivers. No dice sadly.
