The Valkyrie server is a free, international server that was officially released on Sept. 30th. Not much of a difference between the pay servers and this free one except lower exp gain and higher prices (pay servers have +125% exp gain).

You can use your old, retired accounts with the free server, so no need to resubscribe.

It seems like a decent deal, but i am not sure if it is enough to get me back into the game.

I didn't really look at all of the differences but it looks basically like normal RO with no safe upgrades.
That ain't too bad since it's free.

I've only played on those private servers with a high rate before. Kind of sad though since I've never really seen much in the game other then killing the same mobs over and over again in a couple of areas. Never did I get a lot of knowledge in that game on builds and exp locations since it never really mattered, you just outleveled it at a crazy rate and most private server also didn't have a cap on their levels. I know there was some sort of Reborn status that you had to quest for when you reached lv99, most private servers didnt even have that quest tho :/

Imagine you play FFXI where even Easy Prey gives you 2000 exp per kill and you could level to 255 instead of 75. Also you don't need to figure out where to go or how to get there since you could use @go commands and everything you ever needed would be buyable from 1 NPC in the middle of WG (or Jeuno) with the several millions of gil you got from killing a few gigas.

I like medium rates, like 20-25ish, too high is retarded and no fun, and servers that break the 99 cap on level or stats are also dumb.

Regular 1/1/1 rates are stupid as hell though, you gotta reach level 99 killing shit that probably doesn't even give you 0.1% exp per kill, and it's incredibly fucking retarded.

Can't reactivate even if I wanted to lol, account got banned back when the servers got hacked.

PServers have transcendant classes, it's not hard to figure out how to get them. Unless you played a really long time ago.

Eh, I've played 1/1 rates... leveling's not that bad if you're with a party and know the right places.
Solo, yeah... you can fight shit all day and not get that last level. It is retarded.

edit: omg and the horrible drop rate for when you gotta hunt for cards, FUCK, NO, GAHRAIFHA (unless revemu or kore still works, lulz, but that kinda kills the point of playing)

Yeah, except fuck going through all that shit again, on a low exp server even if it is free. It's fine, but the server rates would have to be at least 20x for me not to get bored. Even 300x can get tedious at times...

It wasn't until I started playing and reading up on this shit that I realized how much of a massive pain in the ass getting Monk will be.

Yeah, it's a pain in the ass to get to monk (especially since any good monk will need j.lvl 50), but once you get there the ride isn't so bad. Monk is a pretty fun class, especially if you're a combo monk. One of the few jobs where you can't fall asleep because you're doing a lot more than shift clicking.

Yea, that's why I'm doing it. I researched RO classes occasionally, whenever FFXI would start to wear on me and I'd get nostalgic for the old days when I actually explored. I remember when I was a crit assassin on a PS, shit was fun as hell. That kind of ability spamming is something FF jobs need a lot more of. I still dream of the day when they revamp MNK's Chi-Blast to make it more like Amarant's from FFIX's No Mercy.
