Just out of curiosity, where have all you RDM's put your merits?
Should be moved to newbie section, but to answer your question. I go 5x Convert, 3x Wind Acc., 2x Earth Acc. Tier II merits are 3x Slow II and 3x Phalanx II.
I mean in all area's not just the RDM section... To me just meriting the RDM area is not fully merited. I should have been more clear.
search function, noobie section ect.

For me:
Group 1: 4 wind 3 ice 3 slow so that i cover silence/gravity/bind/paralyze/slow/lolicenukes
Group 2: 3/3 bio because my ls didn't have anyone with that maxed (i wouldn't recommend doing it unless you solo stuff as much as I used to) 1 slow2 1 para2 1 dia3.
-4enmity
8 MP
EDIT: 8 enfeeble 8 elemental
the only thing I worried about for RDM was Convert x 5 Wind x 3 Earth x 2 Dia II x 3 Para 2 x 3
At some point I will go 8MP an most likely 3MND
Do you place all merits on Enfeebling in th emagic area or did you split some up on elemental or dark?
Well, my RDM is merit'd out like this.
HP/MP (used to have +30 +50 but i'm moving the MP ones to HP)
HP+30
MP+30
Group1 10/10
5/5 Wind Acc
5/5 Ice Accuracy
Group2 6/6
Lv3 Slow II
Lv1 Blind II
Lv1 Para II
Lv1 Dia III
Magic Skills (16/16)
8/8 Enfeebling (Did this before they updated the total)
8/8 Elemental (Did this post-update when the total was raised)
Attributes (You can do these as you please, some don't do MND at all, and do STR or something, if your not just a mage)
3 MND
2 INT
Other
Crits 4
Spell Int Rate 4
Basically, do the other ones as you see fit based upon your other jobs at 75 too. IE if you want to merit STR to +5 for a melee job then go ahead, merits outside of the Job Specific ones are all your choiceMerit Enhancing if ya want, its up to you, but the above is what i've done.
Group 1: 4 Ice, 3 Wind, 3 Earth
Group 2: 2 Paralyze II, 2 Slow II, 2 Phalanx II
8 Enfeebling
I set mine up to be a general-purpose build.
forgot about 8/8 enfeeb and someday 8/8 elemental
thank you
Magic Merits.
Cap enfeeblement and elemental
RDM merit. 4 in wind, 3 earth, 3 ice.
Teir II's. this is my setup and i'll explain reasoning.
3 in Phalanx 2. I do a lot of HNM, Salvage, and group based stuff. this is godly for HNM LS.
1 in slow and paralyze 2. to be honest, if you dump a lot of MND into your build/setup. putting a extra merit wont give it that much of a noticeable boost. I had 2 in Paralyze 2 and now I have 1. I barely saw any difference in the proc rate with 1 merit.
1. in Dia 3. the 20% reduction in DEF. so what if it lasts 30 seconds. just recast it!
that about does it for rdm.
Dropping you off in Newbie so people don't throw a hissyfit
I did 8 enfeebling, 8 mp, 4 ice, 3 earth, 3 wind, to cover all the enfeebs. Also, Dia 3 x2 (which i regret and would have moved to phalanx 2 if I didn't quit salvage), Phalanx 2 x1, Slow 2 x1, Para 2 x1, Blind 2 x1. All but RDM specific merits are rather obvious choices, the normal stuff like skill and mp, and the way you merit the RDM section should depend on you're role in you're LS. IE. if there is normally one other consistent RDM at events besides yourself, and he/she has Para2 meritted x3, then you would want to cover Slow 2 x3, or vice versa. If you are in tank PT alot (especially in Salvage) do Phalanx 2 x3. Then tailor you're Tier 1 merits to what you meritted tier 2 (ie 5 earth merits if you are the Slow 2 RDM).
Oh, and DS, when did you leave Kupo?
8/8 Enfeeb ~ 8/8 Elemental
3/5 Vert
Phalanx 2 x 3
Para 2 x 2
Slow 2 x 1
4/4 +Enm (75NIN >.>)
6 HP 2 MP (75NIN >.>)
Merrited to be tank prty RDM mostly for my LS Q('.'Q)
Yea, I like Dia III for it's potent def down, if you combine it with a Angon it does rather well. Plus it lasts a short time so if you want to use it on something you might need to sleep, you can do so as well.
8mp
8 enfeebling (when SE gonna let us put up to 16 enfee ?)
5 ice
5 wind
3 para
2 slow
1 phalanx2
1 MND(want get to 5MND ;
4 -enmity
4 -interupt(dont know what else i can spend in misc for rdm, so i put it for interupt >.>)
Level 8 MP
Level 8 Enfeebling Magic
Level 8 Elemental Magic
Level 4 Enemy Crit Hit Rate
Level 4 Crit Hit Rate
Level 5 STR
Level 8 GK
Level 8 Katana
Category I - Level 4 Earth, Level 3 Wind, Level 3 Ice.
Category II - Level 3 Slow 2, Level 1 Paralyze 2, Level 1 Dia 3, Level 1 Phalanx 2
My merits are based around the fact that I have more than 1 job to think of. Removed my -Enmity merits when I levelled NIN. Did Level 8 Elemental with Enfeebling as I am also a BLM. Did STR as it is pretty much the Stat that is most useful for my SAM and future other melee jobs. I'm Elvaan so my MND is already sufficient enough for my RDM and WHM. Didn't merit any weapons for RDM as I rarely solo so it would be a waste. My RDM specifics are based around Slow 2 really. Decided that was to be my focus. Didn't merit Convert as I never needed it and rarely run out of MP. I don't exp on RDM which is really where I see Convert being mostly used.
4 mp/ 4 hp (not done yet)
8 enf
8 ele
Group I
5 Ice Accuracy
2 Wind Accuracy
3 Earth Accuracy
(Don't see need for Convert)..
Group II
1 Paralyze II
2 Slow II
3 Phalanx II
Contemplating changing group II slightly
/poke
My choices :
Max MP
Max MND (Taru)
Max Enfeeb
Soon max Ele
Max enmity-
Max interruption rate -
Convert 3 (or maybe 4)
Wind acc 3
Ice acc 3
Dia III (2) - every week I wonder whether or not I should cancel
Para II (2)
Slow II (2)
A moderately well-geared RDM (Warlock's Tabard, Enfeebling Torque, Enfeebling Earring, Elite Beret) with elemental staves and 8 enfeebling merits is going to be able to enfeeble anything that was meant to be enfeebled. Things like Shijin, Khimaira, and Cerberus probably would not be any easier to enfeeble even with 50 more skill.Originally Posted by Osede
