    Sheep in Antlion's Clothing ENM

I trio this fight with a couple ls mates. We've been having some troubles lately. Not staying alive or killing it when we find it.

Our problem is finding it when it leaves. From what i've heard it has several more or less "spawn points" that it can go to once it leaves.

Does any one know of a site or somewhere that has a map or illustration of these spawn points? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best advice, get apradar. Yes its cheating, but there were so many times I tried to do it w/ 4+ people and we could never clear it 100% cuz he wouldn't pop, now I just do it duo and in and out in 8mins.

Or don't cheat and do this fucking easy ENM the way you're meant to?

    OP: Just run around more.

I guess I suck at life then, but I typically went in with 4 people and would only pull off maybe 50% of the runs w/o timing out because we couldn't find Tuchulcha. And with our horrible luck of 1 hagun in 5 months of doing it routinely, I'm glad we used apradar cuz losing this shit simply because you can't find a mob when you are trying to farm an item is retarded. And obviously the OP is having the same issues I was or he wouldn't have made a post about this.

Yep you do suck. I go in with 3 or 4 and even on a bad day when we get all 3 babies before the NM, we still kill with time to spare.

I've never done this ENM with 2 people, always with 3 or 4 but the only issue that comes up is not knowing where the possible pop spots are. The spots are static locations; 1 near entrance, 2 on the hill after the entrance leading down to the pit below where Parata/Mithra's spawn, 3 is in that pit, 4&5 are around the rock where you can kite stuff, 6 is opposite side of the entrance in the dead end. I might've missed a spot or two but those are usually where we find the NM or fakes. Also an attentive sleeper and fast healer is needed, if you're RDM can't do both, don't bother really sleeping the fakes and just kill them, seems silly but they go down quickly with two hours, unless of course you only go with two and your only melee is a ninja. Good luck, and try to memorize the potential spawn points so you know where to head to immediately. AP radar shouldn't be needed for this and relying on it hinders yourself. It reminds me of that Cpt. Safety Valve picture Ryko posted here.

Are you saying you haven't used anything that might be considered "cheating"? Because anyone who doesn't use plugins or the illegit windower can flame me away but anyone else is just being hypocritical. You might draw the line at simply using plugins in windower, but I fail to see how this is any different than people using spellcast for gear swaps, using no walls in Nyzul, botting for HNM's or the endless list of plugins / third party programs that people use windower for in order to give themselves an edge in FFXI. So sunless you can prove that you don't use any plugins, nor do you associate with anyone in game who uses plugins or third party programs, cut the mightier than thou crap.

Thanks, this sounds like a good idea.

All the above mentioned you listed have a morally gray area. I never said anything about those but you seem to be wanting me to bite on your baited conversation. I'm simply implying that if you always have to depend on APradar to win this ENM, then you're always going to be leaning on a crutch when you don't have it. Lots of things you just said are debatable but not related to the OP, furthermore stop shitting up a thread in newbie.

I was more or less directing it at the posts above yours, since yours didn't show up till after mine was submitted and you as actually included some useful information besides "you fail at life" that the other posts had. Yes, apradar is a crutch, yes its morally "grey" area but it will make the ENM respectively "easier" and duoable or even dual-boxable.

Don't get me wrong I like my share of "silver platter meals" too but this ENM is easy enough when you do it so many times that you know what to do/expect. I can see your points about the morally gray areas, for example sliding down Ule. Range slope for the key item. Once you do it a dozen or so times and remember the patterns in the snow or steps necessary to fall down on the ledge you don't need to use wireframe mode. As for duo or dual-boxing this ENM, a friend in my linkshell does it that way and he's walked away with a couple Haguns all for himself. But it's pretty obvious to everyone that AP radar is used when he breaks the record with 2 people (Dual-box mind you) and a group of 4-6 can't even come close breaking it. Granted sometimes people can get lucky, but the odds of finding that NM back to back to back to back are extremely rare. But to each their own, I've given some good info and there used to be a post on these forums with a picture describing the locations I gave. I would make a MSPaint showing exactly what I'm talking about but I'm too lazy to bother, and if you don't understand my directions then you need to do more Boneyard Gully ENMs.

blu + rdm is really good for this too. basically any job that can do a lot of damage fast + a healer, especially if you're using apradar. mnk/war + rdm is probably the best (fastest), from my experience.

As a few have said there are only set points he can spawn. At one point I had a map with them all on it, but I've long since gotten rid of it. There's:
    Starting spawn point
Immediately to the left there's a hill, it's on the right side of that hill before dropping off
Drop off the hill like you're running into the pit; it's in the alcove area
From the starting point run straight ahead; you'll hit it head on
    Left side of the pit
    Middle of the pit
To the North(?) side of the rock in the arena area (it's on the narrow side)
And there's one or two more out in the open area on the far area of the arena

The only problem is that many of the other antlion's spawn points are very near some of his spawn points (I'm not really sure if all the antlion spawn points are really shared, but since I've popped some right where he pops, I think it might be possible).

Without knowing your set up it's hard to say what to do, but I've never won this as a trio popping more than one. I eventually just got lazy and got Apradar due to the absolute horrible luck we've had with getting anything from this ENM. You can set it up so you know where all the antlion are, or so you know where just one is. It's easy to do with it either way.

PLD + RDM. But the typical group could be anything + RDM.

There's a really well-done map somewhere that has all the pop-points, I've seen it a few times but never saved it. It was mostly MS-painted.

But yeah, I don't see why you need aphradar or whatever or anything like it... I've done a good 10 or so runs now with 3 people, and we usually take 5-8m, or about 10m on a bad day. Never had anything close to a loss.

Just pay attention to where pets spawn, I haven't been doing it for as long as most people have and I feel rather confident I know just about every spawn spot.

If you have to use apradar to beat this then you have entered a morally gay area...
