Just tried this last night, and wiped due to it getting unblessed armor off RIGHT as my nuke went off. And was wondering if anyone has had experience soloing it on blm at all. Any and all info would be really helpful, thanks![]()

You're such a noob, could have just asked me in game. I told you I've done it.
i *think* kaeko outlined a strat for this on his lj? Could be mistaken though, could have been one of about a thousand other BLM solo things.
Basic Strategy:
ES SleepII big one, kill little one before other wakes up. Dispel Unblest Armor and Shell III if they put it up.
Remember that Manafont gives you -100% Interruption rate from hits (Stun, Sleep or Knockback etc will still interrupt) and use it to your advantage. Once the little one is dead, get killed, reraise, rest to full and work on the other.
After 50% HP they will both cast Cure V, so try to stun it if possible. If you are not Taru, I suggest sleeping with ES the 2nd one when it hits 50%~ HP, rest to full, and finish it without worrying about Cure V. Good luck.
You don't need to die, infact I can't see why you would need to O_o.
So you can freely rest up without worrying about a monster waiting to chomp on your insides when it wakes up. Not like you lose exp from dying in there either.
Honestly if one shell causes you to wipe you might need to go get a spirit lantern. Not being a ass but one nuke shouldn't make you fail unless its on a bind and grav resist/ware. Always dispel, also if you stun when your nuke makes it hit below 50%, chances are you'll stun the cure V or Shell. (Tho they can use cure V if its above but really that shouldn't happen in anycase)
You just have to be fast enough to kill the first one and its won basicly. Oh don't forget lovely burn too.
To OP: I sent you a PM reply, sorry for the lateness.
Best way to do this without having exceptional nuking gear is to try to find a copy of Avesta's BLM solo ENM video. You'll notice he doesn't use ES Sleep II to open the fight, but leads the mobs back to the entrance, then sleeps it. The small one is then killed while moving away from the entrance. When the large one wakes, it'll be at the entrance and you'll be near the end, giving you about 10-15 extra seconds to kill Eldertaur, which easily gives you at least 1 more nuke chance.
Before the Novios, Genie Weskits, etc., I used to do this for $$ with pretty average gear and only 5 thunder merits. I had issues getting a 100% success rate since the mob would spam Shell or I'd miss a Cure and it woke early. I don't think I've ever lost using the method Avesta uses though. Once you have the godly gear, you can do whatever you want pretty much since you can essentially 4 shot it with no shell active.
Avesta also has a RDM video soloing this, if you're interested. I'm actually gonna try to do this one RDM very soon.

Smelly hume males can do this too! Only valid point I have to add to what has already been said here is, as Avesta does, to bind Eldertaur before ES Sleep II'ing Mindertaur back further where you start. Otherwise it was pretty easy, gl. Anelace and leather drop

edit: oh ya. if you plan on sleeping the 2nd DON'T BURN IT. lol
i've been contemplating soloing this, myself. i have both rdm and blm fairly well off (blm probably better though both have full morrigan, full af2, novio, and the usual assortment of toys you'd expect other than that damnable undropping mythical ix'mnk cape) and i'm trying to figure out which job would be the superior choice for soloing it. i'd like to avoid using items if possible outside of a reraise item perhaps but i can't decide which job would be best suited for this. blm can hit harder in a single blow, but rdm gets the advantage of refresh and chainspell, the latter of which makes knocking out the elder far faster and i'd think easier. does anyone who's done it both ways have any suggestions about which they found to be easier and a higher chance of success?
It's absolute child's play if the Mindertaur bugs out and starts running at sub-Gravity speed - if that happens you can rest back almost a full MP pool if you run to the opposite end of the battlefield. If it doesn't bug out, however, I've found that it's usually quicker to just die on BLM; it's not like you're losing exp anyway. Beware, though, that it can "un-bug" and start running at normal speed again at any point.
I've noticed that whenever it bugs out, it wears off as soon as the mob goes below 50% and starts using cure 5.. not sure if that's just me or universal, but it seems to bug about 80% of the time for me and always wears off as soon as it hits 49%.
Do you think it necessary to have a refresh equip for this? Or can it be done without? Cuz I have neither Chapeau nor vermy/dalmy/morrigan's
I've had it wear off before whilst I was resting and it was making its way through the main room towards me (no DoT applied), so I don't think it's HP-based. I've been unable to see a pattern thus far in its tendency to bug out, overall it just looks pretty random to me.
This BC isn't an endurance test. Indeed, the hardest part involves killing the Eldertaur as quickly as humanly possible, so Auto-Refresh is going to make minimal difference there. Besides, unless you own Morrigan's Robe you're barely going to have Auto-Refresh on RDM or BLM at all anyway for that part since you'll be in your nuking/enfeebling gear the majority of the time. Keep in mind that this was solo'd long before the implementation of Morrigan's, it really isn't very difficult if you don't screw up (welcome to FFXI etc.).
yag drinks should be rather cheap, but i'm sure you can do without any refresh
It's not a bug, he only runs slow on the Ice in the middle. Over the rest of the map he runs normal speed.
Also, no reason to die in the BC and it actually wastes time since it's easier to work down the Big guy with DoTs and small nukes while you rest up and Aspir. They don't use C5 until under 60%HP, so you can nuke the big one down to there and full rest before the final push. You can also look to Stun the little one's Cure/Shell after 60% and you can either ES Sleep the big guy again or ES Silence him on your final set to push him down, makes it alot easier to not worry about cures.
I used to do the Avesta Flee method for BLM but now I just kill it on RDM.
Slightly off topic:
How would you adapt the solo strategy to utuilise a THF? My friend was kind enough to trek his and my char to key the key item so we can do the ENM. I have no experience with this ENM and I dont fancy my chances solo'ing it on my first attempt so I might as well make use of him if i can.
At a guess: have him aggro both, I pick the little one off and kill it while he just blink tanks the other one? Or kite it maybe if he has gimped speed across the ice?
Thanks
