I told they would have to either make a recall or pump out loads of cash into settlements.
For all those who said "Nintendo won't be liable for anything" lol Bullshit.
Doesnt mean they are. Flying wiimote is the only bad thing people said about the wii so far, and by showing they care about the problem, it just give them point in everyone's eyes.Originally Posted by Mysterio
why people feel the need to do full motion swings when all you have to do is flick your wrist is beyond me anyway.
how can you say they aren't liable in the least?Originally Posted by Kaylia
why else would they do a recall?
Same reason why auto dealers do recalls on certain vehicles, they have faulty parts, which can leave the automaker liable in an accident where it is deemed responsible for any injury.
It's called customer satisfaction, or keeping the customer happy. I know we're on a FF board, and dealing with SquareEnix all the time it may not be a familiar concept, but most successful companies will actually make sure to keep their customers happy. Breaking big screen TVs or any other appliances with the Wii remote = unhappy customer, whether or not you're really liable.
And on that topic they're still not liable, just like a company that makes cutting knives wouldn't be liable if I was swinging it around and cut someone's arm off.
lol.... Nintendo are a family company.
Nintendo fucked up on there first batch of NES in America if I remember correctly because of freezing in there games.... Instead of hiding, the "family" entertainment company put there hands up and recalled all the units offering to pay for collection and redelivery of the console with there new motherboards.
Nintendo used truth as there weapon and by owning up to a design flaw there console and name become stronger....
While this Wii *strap* thing is not exactly Nintendo's fault they are doing something about it anyway. Kudos Points from me.
im not sure if you know this, but companies have a formula in which if they find a broken part they use. Basically this formula tells them if it would be cheaper to do a recall or to just pay out each lawsuit.Originally Posted by Mysterio

It's been found that Nintendo is not responsible for these user errors, there have already been court cases, and they go in Nintendos favor each time.
Nintendo, unlike MS and Sony have been making profit from Wii, a lot of profit, that plus sales from DS gives them a lot of pocket money.
Nintendo isnt thinking lawsuits here, they are thinking 'happiness'. They know that the old straps have and can cause more uproar, and in turn may lead to less sales. They could either risk that, or spend a few $ on making everyone happy by replacing the straps. How much does one strap cost? 25 cents?
They didnt have to reissue the straps, theyre doing it to make the consumers happy.
LOL! So nintendo makes recall on a product and they "care about the problem" Sony makes a recall on a produc and they "ZOMG THE MOST HORRIBLE COMPANY EVER!" soo funny..Originally Posted by Kaylia

Lets see.. first issued NES' wouldnt work, and Gamecube in it self sucked. Right; fanboy.
No, theyre not.Originally Posted by Vinen
Yes this is impressive that something as small as a wrist strap Nintendo will acknowledge, and send out new wrist strips free of charge.
At the same time this is retarded. I have had my Wii since launch, and done all the Wii Sports and Zelda, and not had any problems at all. I don't get how people are breaking these.
But still, good stuff Nintendo.

One of these companies actually shows the message 'we care about the customer.' The other does not. Sony isn't the most horrible company ever, but they've shown a pretty consistent disdain for consumer satisfaction once money has exchanged hands. The comparison is unfair any way you look at it.
Why is this even turning into a nintendo vs. sony thing anyway? This is actually good news and someone wants to derail it into a catfight over brand preference? Sheesh...
