    Vista Laptop Keyboard Lag

EDIT: Did a lot more testing and playing around, so going to edit my original post and the subject.

I recently purchased 2 Vista laptops (Toshiba Satellite A135-S4467 and Sony VAIO FE890N/H) and I notice a little lag in keyboard input, especially with macros in FFXI. It's a really short delay, maybe roughly .25 seconds, so not really something you can measure. The lag happens in applications like MS Word as well, though obviously, timing isn't that important while typing documents. It doesn't appear to be a buffer problem as all typed keys do appear, it's just that there's a little lag that would be nothing more than a minor annoyance in anything other than games. In fact, if I didn't notice the lag in FFXI macros, I may not have noticed the problem at all. I've tried editing the PollStatusIterations value to 1 in the registry and shutting down as many vendor-installed/useless processes/services as possible, but nothing seems to help. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Are you using windower? I noticed that there is a noticeable delay in firing macros when in <yick> fullscreen, non-windowed Playonline on my laptop. I chalk it up to POL's craptacular interface since the issue is NOT apparent on my laptop when running windower.

I tried it both with and without windower, and the problem persists. Graphic settings don't seem to matter, as the delay occurs on low and high resolution.

I'm beginning to think it might be a Vista thing, since I just tried FFXI on a VAIO FE890N/H (2 GB RAM, 1.66 GHz Core 2 Duo 5500, GeForce 7400) and the delay actually seems longer. I can actually feel the delay just typing in applications like MS Word as well, so I really don't know what's wrong. Tried editing registry values and updating drivers already.

Hmm, call Toshiba or Sony (lol) tech support? If they were purchased new you should have 1 year's worth of free phone tech support. If that fails, try finding an authorized service dealer in your area; they may be able to clear it up under warranty support.
