FFXI Disconnects when Zoning

Basically, I disconnect whenever I zone. I had this problem when I started playing again after VanaFest. I searched around and DMZ'd my PC, and that seemed to solve the trouble. I was able to play for a long time with no problems.

Now I'm back for ACP, and so is the problem, only much worse. I disconnect at every single zone line, no matter where I am.

I'm using a Sony VAIO laptop with Windows Vista. I connect wirelessly through an IO-DATA router. I have a Fiber Optic connection.

Here are all the things I have checked:

• Setting DMZ on the PC running FFXI
• Manually forwarding all the ports
• Disabling Windows Firewall
• Disabling Windows Defender
• Turning off Sharing
• Turning off DHCP and setting a Static IP
• Disabling IPv6

I searched through a bunch of forums, checked Google, and I can't find any other tricks that might make this problem go away.

Finally fixed it (I hope)

I stripped any and all security defense from the router and set it into Game Mode. Hopefully a temporary fix, as now anyone can piggy-back my connection.

At this point, I would try rebuilding your security piece by piece. Try different types of wireless encryption on the router -- making sure your laptop's wifi chipset has the latest drivers, and is compatible with them -- and see if you're disconnected then.
