So gf has gotten 2 speeding tickets this month (first ones shes ever gotten). Anyway to lower the cost of them? I read somewhere you can go to a class and if you pass it they can be thrown out. Any suggestions?

lol
what state are you in you dumb motherfucker
lol
2 in the same month?
..... get a good lawyer, and go to court.
Never heard of them throwing out the tickets but generally you can take a safe driver's course to get the points taken off your license. I know in Indiana they have a "safe driver" option you can check on tickets. Basically if you haven't screwed up in the past 6 months you can just pay the ticket without them sending the info to your insurance.
In PA, 2 speeding tickets in one year is a loss of your license, provided you don't convince the cop to let you plead to a lesser offense.... 3 points per speeding, 6 points = license is gonzo.
Damn, she just turn 16 last month or something?
Insurance is gonna skyrocket...![]()
She's fucked. Either take away the keys or they will.
i love drunk archie
Two in a month here is a suspended license in some cases. If she was speeding more than 15 over she could have been detained on the spot and taken to jail here as well. Really interesting she did not learn from the first. Going to have some tough luck getting those tickets reduced. It's hard enough to get a single one reduced, let alone a repeat offender.
Also could depend on her age. For example: (Provisional Meaning they are under 18 )
Penalties for Drivers Younger than 21
If you are younger than 21 years old, the state will suspend or revoke your license for repeated traffic law violations:
Two or more moving violation convictions occurring separately within any 12-month period for a driver with a provisional driver license
One or more moving violation convictions for a driver with a 60-day hardship license (Minor’s Restricted Driver License)
Thx for the input. We're in Alabama and as far as I can tell takes 12-14 points to get suspended and each ticket is 2 points. Also she's 25. First time she had jus passed someone and was just coasting till speed got down and unluckily passed a cop. Second one she wasnt paying attention on he interstate and was just following traffic and entered a construction zone (no workers present was 8 at night) thx for input. Is it worth going to court?
It's always worth going to court. Even if they won't allow traffic school the off chance of the cop not showing to the following date by pleading not guilty or typically (at least in cali) if you plead no contest they will reduce the cost of the fine. Up to you to decide though if it's worth the time.
What happens if the cop doesn't show? If she goes she pleads no contest? (why would they lower the cost for doing this?) As for traffic school is the only benefit to this losing the points on your license (thus lowering insurance cost)?
Is that shit still ticketable? I thought those slow down signs were for the construction crew's safety and after work hours it didn't matter. I mean I tend to slow down anyways just because the lanes switch and shit, but I never drop down to the designated limit.Second one she wasnt paying attention on he interstate and was just following traffic and entered a construction zone (no workers present was 8 at night) thx for input.
Both tickets say radar although the second the cop pulled both of them over. She was following the other car and the ticket says she was the lead car. I would assume speed reduction was only during actual construction but apparently not... She was going 74 in 55(normal limit is 70)
reading online about traffic school i found this:
In Alabama, points stay on your record whether or not you take defensive driving. However, the court may decide to dismiss the ticket if you complete traffic school. Your driving history and seriousness of the infraction play roles in this.
If you request driving school from a court, you'll have to complete the class and bring back a certification of completion. Then the judge will take it from there.
There is a online one that you can get court approved that cost 30 bucks so hoping she can get that and go to court and try to get them dismissed or at least lowered. What happens if she goes to court and the cop doesnt show? Also should she plead not guilty, or how does it work?
Assuming you plan on fighting the ticket, don't pay it and go to the plea hearing. Plea not guilty obviously. You'll be given a court date. If the cop doesn't show, then the charges against you will be dropped. However, many departments allow their officers to collect overtime pay for attending these court dates. Don't count on the cop not showing up. Considering there's radar data as well, its unlikely that you can fight the ticket if the cop shows up.
For future reference, you can ask the cop to see the readout from whatever piece of equipment he used to pull you over. Cops are trained to generally bluff their way through issuing tickets, in all honesty. They pretty much count on the ignorance of the driver's part for knowing they can review the radar reading at a traffic stop, and the willingness of a driver to admit they were speeding at the traffic stop in order to try and get out of a ticket.
Dropping some knowledge:
Your girlfriend is a dumbass, btw. 75 in a 55 + construction zone? That's the price of a speeding ticket x2 alone in most states. Tell her to invest in a bike and take her fucking car keys away.
At least in california, they offer the reduced price of no contest to encourage you to plead it and not fill up future court dates fighting tickets, causing the cop to show up potentially on OT, etc. This is why they knock the price down and are typically up front about it. And yes removing points to lower your insurance costs is the only benefit to traffic school. Depending on age/driving record, one point can cause an easy 50-100 dollar increase a month on your insurance.
