    Warrior: Rampage and Vorpal Blade

I've searched for similar topics, the only one I found was relating a Blu Vorpal Blade with a War Rampage. So I apologize if there was a post like this before.

I am thinking of leveling WAR as my next job, but I am curious about something...

I already meritted 8 on Sword for my BLU, I haven't touched the other 4 weapon merits yet. Would it be viable for me to use Vorpal Blade over Rampage as a WAR? Take into account if I did not use the other 4 merits for Axe first and I do not have a Suppa.

Vorpal Blade is 4 hits, but has 1.00 modifer over Rampage .50 (i think) but has 5 hits.
Edit: What Sword would WAR use besides Ridill or Joyeuse for Vorpal Blade?

The modifier only applies to the first hit, so you're dealing with 4.5 hits (plus one offhand) worth of damage, as opposed to the four with Vorpal. You're also running with a lower skill (not much lower with 8 merits, but still lower) when you're using two swords. Only thing that makes it worth it is Ridill/Joyeuse, but even then you're pissing away your DA abilities. I'd say Man/Ridill 4 life, but Ridill/Joy is still fun to watch =)

Edit: Possible exception is a place with lots of flying mobs, because you'll do a ton of offhand damage with Joytoy. Still would only probably be about the same as axe/ridill.

I run 8 sword 4 axe merits on my WAR and a suppa to support my off-hand joyeuse. Just for kicks I tried doing Company Sword/Joy in a merit party to see how the damage would compare to my usual axe/joy setup.

I don't have any of the parse data saved, but I remember that the twin sword and vorpal damage came close to axe/joy. Definitely didn't surpass it though, especially given the high quality of 1h axes that WAR gets to play with (Maneater, Jugg, even a Woodville if you're so inclined).

Even with 8 Sword Merits your Axe skill will be higher I believe. Stick to Rampage.

Company sword/joyeuse is the best non ridill sword combo, but like people said above, stick to axe WS

What was about that rumour with getting a Pentasphere AFTER you got the shards?
Since you kinda insert the sharts into the fountain and all I thought it COULD be a viable way - but that guy never posted again

Supposedly thats the start of the AA BCNM, since not many people see it, people thought you could redo it. Was later disproven (I believe) some 6 pages after the first post.

I personally believe it was a filthy lie spread by the CoP team to get our hopes up so they could be crushed later. They like to do things like that...

Joyeuse is not even worth offhanding with Axe main if you dont own a Suppa, or so I'm told. (Kaylia enlighten me)
Playing WAR lately made me regret a bit for not having picked Suppa (specially because meriting Sword fully would benefit two of my jobs, including WAR, and two I plan to level, even though besides WAR the others would benefit marginally, but without Suppa I might just merit axe), but I know I will never get to play WAR outside Limbus or Merits anyways so it's np

I started making other WARs cry at level 70 with subbed Joyeuse. But it helps that I started to put merits into sword when I decided to level WAR.

I'd stick to Rampage, even with a high damage sword in main you'll have much better DoT and WS results with an axe instead. Even Rid/Joy with capped sword merits performed weaker overall than Axe/Rid.

If you have full sword merits and no axe merits, up until almost 70 your sword skill will be higher than your axe. Given that, you can take advantage of the very high DPS of swords like the TM Espadon +2 (which also offers +12 attack) and the Bastard Sword +1. The DPS on these swords is better than the axes available at their level, and the difference between Vorpal and Rampage when your sword is equal to or higher than your axe is minimal until you start getting the 70+ axes with their stat bonuses and (with the exception of Company Sword in a full PT) higher DMG ratings.

But at 75 yeah, go Axe/Ridill or Axe/Joyeuse even with full sword merits, though Company Sword IS a fun toy to have.

dont think you're pissing your DA abilities away. Considering Rid and Joy occasionally attack 1-3 and 1-2 times, cant you still DA on the times extra hits dont proc ?

    5% of Maneater hits.

    5% of 1/3 of ridill hits [1.6%]

    5% of 1/2 of Joy hits [2.5%]

That's what was meant by pissing them away, not saying they don't exist, saying they are of diminished use.

You're right with Joyeuse, but DA with ridill do absolutely nothing. Double attack will proc before the "occasionally attack twice/three times", limiting you to 2 attack that round.

Because ridill has an average number of hit of 2 per rounds, having a chance to hit twice isn't going to change anything to your average and parsing result. Joyeuse has an average of 1.5 hits per round, so double attack is going to increase the average slightly.
