    Cor (DD)

I finished Cor to 75 about 2 months ago, and at the same time I picked up fishing. Since then I haven't touched it but I've fished nonstop, 96 skill w/ebisu lol. Anyways, after reading the "optimal pt" thread I've discovered the optimal cor, at least for merits, is often a DD cor. The only DD cor I've run into is a COR/DNC used in salvage who actually did a pretty damn impressive job DDing with joytoy/slugs, supporting with cures, and also of course rolling.

Sooo, what does DD cor need to focus on gear/merit/sj/accuracy/food wise while doing his normal job? Recommended gear sets are appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Get a good TP setup first, with adequate haste (dusk gloves, wal. turban, barb. zeheks, enkidu feet). Then work on a WS set with high amounts of STR, AGI, ranged attack, and accuracy. COR af+1 is excellent for this as well as skadi. I usually go COR/WAR to merits and I have a blast, literally. I love the damage you can do on COR :D

If you have room(if BLM is your only other job I would assume you would), 8 Sword merits and 8 Marksmanship both go very far. You do Salvage it appears, so Skadi legs shouldn't be out of reach, those are a very strong TP piece.

Mainly Haste then Acc for TP, I personally generally /WAR and use Squid Sushi +1 since I rarely use Hunter's in merits, though you can ocassionally get away with meat(my acc never feels high enough for that).

    I use the following sets:

    TP - - FFXIAH.com

    Slug - - FFXIAH.com

    Deto - - FFXIAH.com

    QD - - FFXIAH.com

    Ranged Attacks - - FFXIAH.com

Main upgrades over what I have in those that'd I'd recommend are AF+1 Body(I wouldn't do it before Head/Feet though) for Slug, and Bucaneer's Belt for shooting/WS.

Get first a good TP setup, and by TP I dont mean spamming bullets (it costs way too much anyway).

    My setup looks like this:

    Main: Joyeuse
Sub: M.kris (depends on sub, on birds I perfer to sub /nin and m.kris allows for faster TP gain if you have +Store TP pieces on)
    Ranged: Martial Gun
    Head: WallaWalla Turban
    Neck: PCC
    Ear1: Brutal earring
    Ear2: Suppanomimmi
    Body: Enkidus harness
    Hands: Dusk gloves
    Ring 1: Toreador's ring
    Ring 2: Toreador's ring
    Back: Cuchulain's mantle
    Waist: Swift belt
    Legs: Skadi Chauses
    Feet: Dusk feet +1

Just to give you an idea, foccus heavy on 1. haste, 2. accuracy, 3. Store TP
and then put together a WS gear for slugshot/detonator.
A good Cor is on birds a very good DD and lets melees go afk, when one needs to go to WC or smoke short, can keep up chain np.

Thanks for the quick replies, my 75 jobs are blm, rdm, rng, and cor. So, I have np with a marksmanship WS set since I already have a decent gun build from RNG, melee wise though, I have nothing except W. turban for dark magic on blm lol.

edit: bunch of nice builds posted while I was slowly replying, checking them out now, thanks again.

double edit: currently have enough gil to buy a kraken for rng (when I can find one for 40m), as well as the appropriate gear set for it. Therefore merits will be 8/8club & 8/8 gun, but I'm guessing quite a bit of the kraken RNG gear may carry over to DD cor

The above sets pretty much mirror mine... I will say I've found that accuracy is a bit lacking with a real haste set.

I recently moved to turban/dusk/dusk/swift for TP set, losing decent amount of acc. in feet and waist slot and I notice a definite accuracy hit.

I picked up an Iota ring (have everything else I need from Ein) to TP in instead of or Rajas to help out.

If you check out the TP set posted above and go something along those lines, you'll be very happy with your gear set. With Barb pants and NQ dusk you'll be at 14% haste (unless you have speedbelt 16%) and that's very respectable. Just be ready to eat sushi unless you're using hunter's roll or /rng (or if you can afford dual Toreador's rings)

Feel free to hit me up via PM if you have any specifics, I've been doing DD COR for a while now, I love discussing gear sets

(But please no "OMG WHY IOTA RING" stuff. It's free, I'm using it until I get Toreadors. ~4.5 acc is ok with me vs 5 from woodsman ^^ )

What are the best options for body pieces for melee tping? I'm asking because I'm coming up to 70 with absolutely no prior melee experience at this level and don't yet have pahluwan (got full yigit tho!). I'm fairly well setup for ranged tp/ws but not melee. Talking about something I can start with as I work on something rare ex/better.

SH (or Pahluwan if you want to burn the AP) are the basic options.. Best would be either Cuirie or Enkidu's depending on your Acc.

OK, so start with SH, move onto Pahluwan... rightyo.

If you have the gil, Antares Harness seems like a reasonable choice. You can always sell it after you've gotten a ra/ex melee body piece!

To anyone who parses their Cor, I has a question!

Has anyone ever parsed Cor on birds with a meat+acc build v/s full haste+sushi build? I don't parse (though I should) but just by eyeballing it I always ALWAYS enjoy my acc+meat build (with only March+Haste, absolute no haste in gear) on birds more than a sushi+full haste build.

I'm at work so I can't just slap on a URL for my builds.. so I'll just throw out my acc+meat build on birds (and only birds, I go meat+haste/acc hybrid on MMJ)

    Joyeuse/Beaters/Martial/Steel
    Enkidu/+8 Acc Coeurl Gorget/Suppa/Brutal
    SH+1/Enkidu/Blood/Sniper
    Cuchu/Life/Denali/AF2

But yah, original question still stands for those who have parsed BOTH builds.. Thanks! ^o^

I have parsed Cor/War with Sushi & Cor/Rng with Subs, both were awhile back, as I haven't done any meriting in like a few months. /War always out parsed /Rng by about 2 or 3%. Granted my Acc and Haste setup isn't optimal, so as /Rng my melee acc is rather weak. Which lead to sushi giving more tp hence more Weaponskills. However I think with optimal gear they would be about even. With only decent gear /War seems to pull ahead. No real endgame gear as my work schedule is to hectic to join a HNMLS of any kind.

Eh, there isn't really a lot of 'endgame' gear for Cor that you can't get in a pickup PT or can farm gil to buy. The only thing I can think of endgame for Cor you can't really buy (well, some servers you can) is crimson gear and salvage gear.

And I generally always go /rng to any merit PT. If I'm feeling frisky I go /war but I always miss my barrages/sharpshot so I tend to stay /rng. :<

    @ Jak

I've always found my Sushi + /WAR to blow away my Meat + /RNG, but I probably wasn't playing /RNG to full capacity every time(I'm bad about forgetting I have Barrage since I rarely /RNG).

And I agree with what nitsuj posted, you'll find your Acc is always going to be lower than you want imo, even with full sword merits and sushi I'm not particularly thrilled with mine, but as long as the healer is not being a jerkbutt and hitting you with Haste the heavier Haste builds should still win out.

I always carry a higher Acc TP set with O.Hat/Potent/Commodore feet just in case, it's easier to build one rather than the Haste build and I would recommend going with the Acc until you actually have a full on Haste set, at the very least until you have Turban/Swift/Dusk/Dusk.

I never meant to make you think I don't have a full haste build, sorry lol. I have a build for every occassion more/less. My haste build is just generic build but it's..

    Joyeuse/Beater/Martial/Steel
    Wal.Turban/Coeurl/Brutal/Suppa
    SH+1/Dusk/Sniper/Blood
    Cuchu/Swift/Denali/Dusk

Like I said, just generic haste setup. But like I said, I just am curious for people who have tried both a meat+acc and sushi+haste build on Cor/Rng and how each parsed v/s each other.

No that comment was more for the OP, I know a lot of times when people start COR as an aside to mage or just non-Dusk jobs they don't have Swift/Dusk/Dusk laying around.

And yeah I tried both, but in the long run I'm pretty certain that Sushi + Berserk adds up to both more Attack and more Accuracy than /RNG + Subs, I'm just not sure how it averages out for the rest of the time that Berserk is down. It may be different if you were always using Hunter's and at the point where Sushi would actually be overkilling your accuracy above what's needed to cap, but I've sure as hell never seen that situation myself.

My melee build is the same except sh+1 > pln kzd and amt+1 instead of cuch & pcharm. As /Rng my melee acc with meat is usually round 70-75%. With /War & sushi about 85% and my slugs/Dets do more Dmg. Barrages close the gap a bit but /War still wins out.

Sorry, Calli.. just assumed it was for me.

And it's funny.. I got to thinking why I stopped going /war in the first place and I remembered. Four words.. "Shitty Ramuh Pickup Parties". I swear to God it seems like I full-time tank on Cor (and go through about 4-5 stacks of subs/sushi) everytime I merit. And when I'd go /war I'd literally have to cancel berserk just to not die b/c I ALWAYS die.

I guess I'll go this weekend and switch back and forth between dif. merit PTs as each sub and re-test everything. I'm Cor main, I have been since Cor came out (1>75 in 22 days gooo) and I like knowing I'm doing the best I can do with what I have. Thanks for the input guys. ^_^

I just try to hold TP until it's at 60%- unless someone I see something that I can close a Frag or Light off of and hope the SC goes unresisted and finishes it.

I also die somewhat often(for a COR) but usually it's from doing something stupid like claiming with voke to beat someone to the mob then taking a Rushing Boner to the face.
